Last week the same group that previously described a monoclonal antibody targeting a conserved epitope on group 1 influenza A viruses, reported on a second monoclonal antibody that has broad neutralizing activity against group 2 viruses. Both of the antibodies described by this group bind to conserved regions at the base of a hemagglutinin stalk and interfere with fusion of the virus with host cells.
