Happy International Infection Prevention Week (Oct 17-23)

October has been a busy month. I hope you all have recovered from World MRSA Day and Global Handwashing Day. I haven't, but I still wanted to remind you all to celebrate International Infection Prevention Week in style.  I also wanted to give you all a hug. One of those hugs where we kinda hug the air and don't actually touch each other. Touching wouldn't be very infection preventiony now would it.

  1. Happy Infection Prevention Week! The State of Iowa is celebrating too! I found the article below:

    "DES MOINES, Iowa —
The Iowa Department of Public Health is marking International Infection Prevention Week.

Public health experts say Iowans are encouraged to understand how health care workers and administrators work to prevent infections and make patient care safer. The department says 5 to 10 percent hospitalized patients are affected. Statistics show nearly 2 million infections annually and 100,000 deaths.

The department says it is working with the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative to partner with about 70 acute care Iowa hospitals to measure and reduce preventable infections."
