CDC goes OOPS!

How does the CDC really feel about infection control?  Perhaps we can get a hint by looking at the cover of their new Guide to Infection Prevention for Outpatient Settings: Minimum Expectations for Safe Care.  How many fundemental breaks with basic infection control do you see? I guess we know there is a new low in minimum expectations!

Oh, by the way, the CDC has just released their new Guide to Infection Prevention for Outpatient Settings.

  1. ooooh ooooh, Like Where's Waldo of the Infection prevention world!!!
First Picture: That does not look like a safety engineered sharp, now does it although it is hard to be sure. Were those hands sanitized before the gloves went on??
Second Picture: long sleeves, and when was the last time that BP cuff was properly sanitized, ditto for the stethoscope.
Picture 3: OK , you got the jewelry and the lab coat. That is obviously his Littman, so who knows the last time it was properly cleaned and sanitized. Well, and you all know as well as I that these were not put there by someone who is a content expert, but their web designers- however, who's job is it at the CDC to review. Did you see the CDC just got on Facebook (yea!!!), I mentioned that to our oldest son last night and his comment was, "nice to see the government is among the early adopters."
